Crysis Black Screen at Start Up & Appcrash Fix.
The first Crysis was released in 2007. The graphic were way before its time and is still a beautiful game to this day. It has been 10 years sense its release and the small problems 2007 are now big today. Crysis was built on a primarily DirectX 9 platform with added DirectX 10 Visual additions, like night/day dynamics and battle dust.
Direct X 10 had like a million and one bugs. Most of the time the game played well with DirectX 10, but a decade later not so much. AMD FX Series Processors seems to have a combined issue with DirectX 10 and CryEngine 2. So I found a fix that could help with the Black Screen Start Up & In Game Appcrashs.
Right click and open the properties of the Crysis shortcut on your desktop or start menu, at the end of the TARGET line add "-dx9". This will force Crysis to start in DirectX 9.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe" -dx9
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -dx9
Step 2 (Optional for first try)
Right click and open the properties of the Crysis shortcut on your desktop or start menu, Click on the Compatibility tab. In the drop down menu under "Run this program in compatibility mode for", select "Windows Vista (Sevice Pack 2)". Then try to launch the game again. You can also change the compatibility mode to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".
Hope these steps are able to help!!
